COMMENT 11:Bubion

Bubión is a Spanish town and municipality, belonging to the province of Granada, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is located in the northwestern part of the Alpujarra Granadina. It borders the municipalities of Lanjarón, Capileira, La Taha, Pampaneira and Soportújar. Much of its municipal area belongs to the Sierra Nevada National Park, and is part of the Historic Complex of the Barranco de Poqueira. The central position in which it is located allows to have impressive views. Therefore, on clear days, it is possible to see both the Mediterranean Sea and the Sierra Nevada from the same point. The town has a great architectural wealth: various streets and houses were built by the Arabs and, later, preserved by the town's inhabitants; Fountains are common and can be found on any street, and the houses are characterized by chimneys and houses with flat roofs.

The architecture of Bubión, as well as that of all the towns of the high Alpujarra, is characterized by houses without roofs, its houses with a white facade, stepped, with terraced terraces, coniform chimneys and balconies adorned with flowerpots and flowers. The streets are steep and narrow.
Tourists can see and walk around the village on foot or by car.
The village has several hiking and biking trails.
In this small town there are several places to visit:
-Church of Bubión
-Source Hondera
-Taller del Telar: It is one of the few traditional looms that are preserved in the region.
-Hermitage of San Antonio
-Hermitage of San Antonio
These are some of the most significant places, although there are some other places , such as two museums ...

In Bubión there are two festivities a year in honor of the town's patron saint, San Sebastián and the Chisco de San Antón (co-patron, San Antonio Abad) .These festivities are celebrated in January and in summer on the last weekend of August.
Its temperatures are not so cold in spite of its high location. The temperatures are mild - Mediterranean climate. Its temperatures are not mild in winter  (that would be the case of Salobreña)
The gastronomy of Bubión is very rich and varied. Typical dishes include migas, Alpujarreño dish, paprika gachas, choto al ajillo, gypsy cuisine, asudara aliñá, and fennel stew. We cannot forget the ham and the good wine.
As for desserts, Moorish pastries continue, such as canned cake, fried donuts, rice pudding, and fritters.

In conclusion, this type of towns is nice and quiet to visit.
The mountain has very good views towards the sea. It is a town rich in history and culture. I recommend visiting it to all people who love this type of town.
